Mexico 8 Escudos 1714 "Dated! From the 1715 Fleet Shipwreck" NGC Uncirculated details! Mexico City Mint, Assayer Jose de Leon (J). Philip V, Weight: 27.12 gms. Well centered and boldly struck, this fully uncirculated example emanates original mint luster that compliments the complete Shield and Cross and exhibits a bold full four digit date, mint mark and assayer's letter. Though in a details holder, upon close inspection this cataloger fails to see said damage. There are two raised areas near the edge at 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock that could account for the details designation, but these characteristics appear on other examples of these issues and occur during the manufacture process when the planchets are made. Despite its shortcomings an impressive Onza that presents well in the holder.
